Now onto more about the stars ahead...
June 2020 ~ ECLIPSE BOOM! + Mercury AND Venus Retro and more …
This month reminds me of learning to knit and crochet. No matter how carefully I thought I was counting stitches to make the rows even, inevitably I would start to see my creation slanting off sharply instead of having even sides. To straighten it out, I had to pull out rows of stitches and redo them, making sure I wasn’t doing one stitch less each row which is what led to the uneven sides.
Having so much retrograde energy in a month is a time when the crocheted creations in our lives reveal their uneven sides and force us to unstitch (or it gets unstitched for us in ways out of our hands) and try again. Rushing through life with hectic schedules leaves many areas of experience with less stitches in their rows that tend to show themselves during retrograde cycles and offers a chance to either start
the restitching process on a new and better path, or helps direct us away to different pursuits.
If we only look at the outcomes, we may feel we have “wasted” time and feel frustrated at having to backtrack over old ground, but if we choose the perspective of joy in the presence of the journey, instead of the outcome, we can have a totally different experience.
It has become such a part of so much of the human experience to be thinking about what’s next and moving to constant material expansion. Retrograde and eclipse both time speak of the potentials for inner expansion through slowing down into quiet presence and working with what shows up instead of a continual focus on doing and planning. These times also speak of the opportunity to count blessings instead of
lamenting that which has not yet been accomplished and watch for signs of where we are to focus next, instead of forcing agendas. They speak of focus on feelings and the inner world and often force that experience where it was avoided or not made time for previously.
June brings much energy in air and water, creating themes of thinking verses feeling and offering time and ways to bridge the gap between the two. The aspects this month are in an unusual situation where there is double the challenging aspects compared to the sweet ones. How each person will experience this is impossible to tell as perspective, temperament, and individual chart placements will all differ
and can drastically shift the experience. Going into the month with curiosity, thinking “I wonder how the energies will present this month” and with openness for weak spots that need attention being revealed, “I wonder what areas of my life need attention that will be brought up by the transits this month”, can lead away from fear and disempowerment and into joy and conscious evolution. Everything is lined up this month for great potentials to be spiritually and creatively
productive.
There are many powerful aspects this month - two of the three eclipses in this cycle (June 5 and June 21), plus Mercury going retro and Venus going direct late in the month, AND the second Jupiter/Pluto conjunction. See all the dates for these below and know that all of these are really influencing THE WHOLE MONTH, not just the day they occur. Also especially look out in the days around June 30 as many aspects
collide into one time.
Storylines in process over the last 2 years that were very prominent at the end of 2019 and the beginning of 2020 are likely to come back up now and reach some final conclusions as the Cancer/Capricorn eclipse series that started mid 2018 ending with the eclipse set in June and July.
Staying quiet, listening deeply, tuning into and following intuition, working through emotions as they come up, proactively healing patterns that reemerge, using extra care, not forcing agendas, taking care before saying “yes” to anything to make sure you can handle it and it won’t cause overwhelm, working over old ground, watching your web to see what comes to you instead of expending too much energy in
vigorous chase are all ways you can have the most ease in this month.
Sweet boosts are more likely on or around these days: 3, 5, 11, 13, 20, 28, and 30.
Drama or stress are more likely in the days around: 2, 3, 5, 6, 11, 14, 17, 18, 20, 21, 24, 25, and 30.

** Note: Often the effects of planetary transits are felt before or after the actual day the transit occurs. Also note that dates may shift a day or so depending on your time zone. Also note that general transits can effect people differently depending on many factors, including transits to the individuals personal charts.
June 2 — Venus in Gemini Square Mars in Pisces — Tension and frustration often come from this pair-up. The odds of making decisions from a short-sighted viewpoint are more likely, the outcomes of which might not be so favorable. Physical exercise can help to ease tension and bring more clear perceptions.
June 2 — Mercury retrograde pre-transit shadow period begins — Plan changes and other things that were previously certain may start to get called into question from now through the end of July.
June 3 — Sun and Venus Conjunct in Gemini — Delightful conversations can often come with this transit, as can meetings or other movement related to money or love. Sometimes this combination amplifies confusion about making a choice. There is likely more information still making its way to you that could affect decisions that come up.
June 5 — Full Moon Lunar Eclipse at 15° of Sagittarius (and Mercury in Cancer Square Chiron in Aries and Sextile Uranus in Taurus) — Now marks the official beginning of the Sagittarius/Gemini Eclipse cycle that runs into the very end of 2021 (prior to this we saw the Sagittarius/Gemini eclipse cycles from around the middle of 2011- through the middle of 2013 then prior to that, the end of
2001through the end of 2003). Topics related to distance learning and work, global interactions and policies, spiritual groups and movements, writing, teaching and general learning are all topics that tend to come more into the forefront with Sagittarius eclipses. You can maximize this transit by seeing my blog, Powerful Full Moon in Sagittarius Reveal & Release
Ceremony.
June 6 — Sun in Gemini Square Mars in Pisces — Thought and emotion conflict tend to conflict in challenging ways with this combination.
June 11 — Sun in Gemini Square Neptune in Pisces — The usual daily stressors might bum you out a bit more than usual at this time leading to a hit to your self-esteem and motivation. But fortunately the influence of this transit tends to blow through quickly.
June 11 — Venus in Gemini Sextile Chiron in Aries — Any bumps to confidence from the other transit today (listed above) can be quickly smoothed out with the help of this line up. Self-inquiry and directed inner work can really help bust through some limitations helping you rise up even higher from any issue that may come up.
June 13 — Mars Conjunct Neptune in Pisces — High romance and strong delusion tend to be possible effects from this transit. Remember you also may have Venus retro goggles on, interfering with viewpoints. Taking a deep breath and some personal time to work through things that may come up might be better than engaging in a way that could turn out to have lacked important discernment.
June 14 — Sun in Gemini Inconjunct Pluto in Capricorn — Fleeting desires or fly-by-night plans may get a serious reality check now. The quest for light-heartedness may be weighed down by responsibility or an avoidable road block.
June 16 — Sun in Gemini Inconjunct Jupiter in Capricorn — This aspect carries a similar energy as the Sun/Pluto pair-up on the 14th (listed above). Superficial and not-well-thought-out ideas may become revealed as such, calling for more long-term thinking.
June 17-18 — Mercury Retrograde at 14° of Cancer back to 5° of Cancer Direct on July 12 with post-transit shadow period through July 31 — Emotions run high with this water retrograde. Issues and opportunities relating to homes, housing, family matters, come up with increasing frequency. Communication and things involving transportation and mobility take center stage. See my blog called How to
Maximize Personal Planet Retrogrades for some ideas on how to use this time constructively.
June 18 — Mars in Pisces Sextile Pluto in Capricorn — Intuition may more easily link you to tangible outcomes at this time. Trust your gut in your material endeavors!
June 20-21 — New Moon Solar Eclipse at 0° of Cancer — (and Mars in Pisces Sextile Jupiter in Capricorn and Sun in Cancer Inconjunct Saturn in Aquarius) — The two-year Cancer/Capricorn eclipse series is winding down to a close. This is the second to last (with the last being on July 5) eclipse in this series bringing the end to storyline that has been extra activated since around mid-2018. Major
endings and bright new beginnings in the areas of home, housing, real estate, family topics are very likely now. This powerful transit gets a sweet boost from a Mars/Jupiter connection, possibly bringing sweet emotion and outcomes to a material event and also receives a jolt from a challenging aspect with the Sun and Saturn, bringing an unforgiving, non-negotiable tilt to whatever goes on. Vitality might take a hit now, most likely from the high emotion related to however the transits manifest.
Guard your health especially now. For ways to maximize this transit, see my blog, Making Powerful New Moon in Cancer Wishes.
June 22-23 — Neptune Retrograde at 20° of Pisces back to 18° of Pisces and Direct November 29 — Neptune is usually retrograde for around 5 months every year so almost an even split of retrograde to
June 24-25 — Venus Direct at 5° of Gemini (post-transit shadow period through July 29) — The ruler of love, beauty/design, and money goes direct! It will be a while before the after effects of the transit pass but every day after now takes us further from the influence.
June 28 — Mars in Aries Sextile Saturn in Aquarius - This is a great aspect for increasing endurance and determination. Also, it can help gel actions into form.
June 30 — Jupiter and Pluto Conjunct in Capricorn — April 4th was the first time these planets got together in Capricorn since 1771! June 30 is the second pass and the last will be on November 12. The plus side of this combination can be major work/career/financial gains, the negative side can be the opposite. Pluto tend to blow things up, and it also rebuilds anew after the destruction.
Capricorn rules systems. This year is critical in the process of the breakdown of old structures and building of new ones (on every level from global down to the individual).
June 30 — Sun and Mercury Conjunct in Cancer Square Chiron in Aries and Sextile Uranus in Taurus — So much intensity at this time! The Sun and Mercury getting together in Cancer increases the odds of major news about home, housing or family situation. Emotion will likely run high, for better or worse. The bump with Chiron could bring up the feeling of being a victim, and the connection with
Uranus can bring innovative answers or help from friends.
Here is a repost of my special retrograde segment I posted in last months newsletter. I am thinking it will be good to repost the parts of this that are relevant each month so you have it readily available:
Here are some important pieces to making the most of personal planet retrogrades:
Foundational Understandings:
1. The “personal planets” that go retrograde are Mercury, Venus, and Mars, so it is these that I am referring to when I use that term.
2. “Retrograde” refers to a time when the appearance of the orbit of a planet appears to us on Earth like it is going backwards in the sky.
3. Personal planet retrogrades often coincide with an increase in certain types of occurrences and experiences making these times notably great for certain things and challenging for other types of things. To better understand which specifics for each retrograde, see my video Must-Know’s for Mercury Retrograde. Also see my video Venus Retrograde Must-Know’s (by the way this, to my knowledge, is the most viewed video about Venus retrograde on Youtube), and my video Must-Know’s for Mars Retrograde.
4. There is a time before and after each retrograde called “shadow periods” where the things that go along with the retrograde start to show up more frequently even though it is not officially retrograde yet.
5. People who were born in a personal planet retrograde cycle often have the opposite effects during the retrograde as others who don’t. People born in the actual retrograde cycle can see this in their charts as there is a marking on the birth chart that shows when a planet was retrograde and when it was direct. Those born in a “shadow period” need a more in-depth analysis to discover this truth as it won’t be
evident on the chart and needs to be calculated with an ephemeris. (Fun side note about this is that I am working with an awesome publisher to bring out an exciting new astrology book in 2020 and in this book I will show you how to figure this out ;) ) In the meantime, I always recommend observing and experimenting to see how using your energy in different ways during the retrograde has worked out in the past and how it manifests in the present.
6. Understanding the energies of the retrograde and how your personal wiring syncs up with the cycle can help you to have an awesome time when each planet is direct AND retrograde because you will line up your actions with the natural rhythm.
Retrograde Misconceptions Cleared Up:
- Misconception #1 ~ “I can’t do ANYTHING during personal planet retrogrades”. Totally not true!! There are a ton of things that have even more support in retrograde times than in direct cycles. Here is a blog giving lots of details about many things awesome to do during p.p.r.’s Maximizing Personal Planet Retrogrades. Even the things that are known to not be best to do in the retrogrades all have caveats and ways to work with them so there is much gray area.
2. Misconception #2 ~ “I dread the retrogrades, they have to be terrible!” Also not true! Many people have become out of sync with natural rhythms, not tuning into intuition and the Divine signs that whisper. It IS true that if you push against the tide trying to put your boat out during a strong incoming tide, you will get tired, frustrated, and more likely to not reach your goal
of getting out to sea but if you understand when these different phases of the natural cycle are occurring and you actively sync up with them, then things can be easier, more fun, fulfilling, and productive.
