February 2020 ~ The Retrograde Wall Begins! Here is how to make the most of it …
Mercury goes retrograde this month beginning the wall of personal planet retrogrades that dominate this year. One of my missions for the rest of 2020 is to help you make the most of these transits. In order to accomplish this mission, I have to start out by first setting up some foundational understanding then clearing up some retrograde misconceptions. Check out a special
section on this below the February 2020 Report.
February has more than DOUBLE the sweet aspects compared to the challenging ones setting a sweet tone for the month that can bring an increased chance for blessings from the past. Six “sextiles”, super sweet angles between planets, grace the month bringing many ingredients to make awesome creations.
Ideas, people, opportunities with an association to the past will predominate now and looking to past ventures and contacts may be more fruitful than pushing for new territory. Something I have often seen go along with the sextile angle is that things which are presented that might not seem like much on their own but with some action applied, they can become much more (think
ingredients for a recipe vs. the actual mixing of them together to make a delectable delight). There are, however, times when these angles will deliver something that has already taken awesome shape, but often it will be something the gelled from past efforts.
One of these special angles that are a theme this month takes place between two outer planets, Jupiter and Neptune. This is a more rare transit and can bring an extended time of extra blessings, ease, and grace. It could bring in many a sweet possibility or fruition and also help anything challenging that comes up to find healing and solutions.
Mercury retrograde in the water sign of Pisces will likely bring high emotion and lift things swept under the rug out to be dealt with, for better and worse. Changes to plans, things that were solid being brought into question, looming uncertainty are all common in Mercury retrograde. Keeping things flexible and staying present, moment to moment instead of trying to get too far
into future planning, are ways to help mitigate any rough spots.
Eclipse drama, fruition, life-changing news and events could still be coming in from the Solar and Lunar Eclipses (in Capricorn, and Cancer, respectively) that were in December 2019 and January 2020. There is often 4-6 week or more period of time AFTER eclipses where related events are coming up as very notable. There is one more set of this cycle of Cancer/Capricorn eclipses
which will take place in June and July 2020 so many things that were set in motion in the middle of 2018 when this eclipse cycle started, will be finding their final chapters between now and mid-2020.
Sweet boosts are more likely on or around these days: 1, 2, 3, 5, 8, 10, 16, 20, 24, 25, 26, and 28.
Drama or stress are more likely in the days around: 8, 10, 16, 23, and 28.
Here is the special retrograde segment:
Mercury goes retrograde on February 17 at almost 13° of Pisces, going back to 28° of Aquarius on March 10 then turning back direct that day (with the post-shadow period going until March 20). Note that depending on your time zone, these days can be shifted a bit forward or backward. The “shadow period” begins around February 2-3 so all of the month is covered with
strengthening retrograde energy. To understand Mercury retrograde more deeply and see the actions to use caution with, check out my video Must-Know’s for Mercury Retrograde.
Here are some important pieces to making the most of personal planet retrogrades:
Foundational Understandings:
1. The “personal planets” that go retrograde are Mercury, Venus, and Mars, so it is these that I am referring to when I use that term.
2. “Retrograde” refers to a time when the appearance of the orbit of a planet appears to us on Earth like it is going backwards in the sky.
3. Personal planet retrogrades often coincide with an increase in certain types of occurrences and experiences making these times notably great for certain things and challenging for other types of things. To better understand which specifics for each retrograde, see my video Must-Know’s for Mercury Retrograde. Also see my video Venus Retrograde Must-Know’s (by the way this, to my knowledge, is the most viewed video about Venus retrograde on Youtube), and my video Must-Know’s for Mars
Retrograde.
4. There is a time before and after each retrograde called “shadow periods” where the things that go along with the retrograde start to show up more frequently even though it is not officially retrograde yet.
5. People who were born in a personal planet retrograde cycle often have the opposite effects during the retrograde as others who don’t. People born in the actual retrograde cycle can see this in their charts as there is a marking on the birth chart that shows when a planet was retrograde and when it was direct. Those born in a “shadow period” need a more in-depth analysis to
discover this truth as it won’t be evident on the chart and needs to be calculated with an ephemeris. (Fun side note about this is that I am working with an awesome publisher to bring out an exciting new astrology book in 2020 and in this book I will show you how to figure this out ;) ) In the meantime, I always recommend observing and experimenting to see how using your energy in different ways during the retrograde has worked out in the past and how it manifests in the
present.
6. Understanding the energies of the retrograde and how your personal wiring syncs up with the cycle can help you to have an awesome time when each planet is direct AND retrograde because you will line up your actions with the natural rhythm.
Retrograde Misconceptions Cleared Up:
- Misconception #1 ~ “I can’t do ANYTHING during personal planet retrogrades”. Totally not true!! There are a ton of things that have even more support in retrograde times than in direct cycles. Here is a blog giving lots of details about many things awesome to do during p.p.r.’s Maximizing Personal Planet Retrogrades. Even the things that are known to not be best to do in the retrogrades all have caveats and ways to work with them so there is much gray area.
2. Misconception #2 ~ “I dread the retrogrades, they have to be terrible!” Also not true! Many people have become out of sync with natural rhythms, not tuning into intuition and the Divine signs that whisper. It IS true that if you push against the tide trying to put your boat out during a strong incoming tide, you will get tired, frustrated, and more
likely to not reach your goal of getting out to sea but if you understand when these different phases of the natural cycle are occurring and you actively sync up with them, then things can be easier, more fun, fulfilling, and productive.

** Note: Often the effects of planetary transits are felt before or after the actual day the transit occurs. Also note that dates may shift a day or so depending on your time zone. Also note that general transits can effect people differently depending on many factors, including transits to the individuals personal
charts.
February 1-2 — Venus in Pisces Sextile Pluto in Capricorn — This aspect can bring love or money from or into secret places. Support for an artistic endeavor could come in now, a clandestine love experience, some quiet time with your beloved, a retreat in a magical place, or countless other sweet possibilities.
February 3 — Venus in Pisces Sextile Saturn in Capricorn — The presence of this transit so close to the one with Venus and Pluto can bring more of a permanent or long term tilt to whatever transpires now. These few first days of February marks the last launch point before the wall of retrogrades begins and dominates the rest of 2020.
February 5 — Mercury in Pisces Sextile Uranus in Taurus — The energies now are blending with the ones in the first days of February, adding the element of potential happy surprises.
February 8 — Full Moon at 20° of Leo — Fullness, completion, drama, fruition, accomplishment come to the arena of Leo - children, creativity, fun, hobbies, and romance. See my blog, Powerful Full
Moon in Leo Reveal & Release Ceremony.
February 10 — Venus and Chiron Conjunct in Aries — Tests to love, money, and inner certainty are more likely now. Vulnerable spots can be poked, past wounds that have healed can bring gifts.
February 16 — Mercury Retrograde at 12° of Pisces back to 28° of Aquarius - direct on March 9 — Changes to plans are more likely now. Keeping plans light and flexible can bring greater flow. This is an amazing time for quiet personal reflection and artistic flow. Previous projects can have new life and possibilities breathed into them. Subconscious
issues pushed under the rug are more likely to come up to be dealt with. High emotion is likely, for better and worse, this whole transit.
February 20 — Jupiter in Capricorn Sextile Neptune in Pisces — Ease, good fortune, harmony, and grace often accompany this transit. We will have three passes of this sweet connection of outer planets in 2020: February 20, 2020, July 27, 2020, and October 14, 2020
February 23 — New Moon at 4° of Pisces (with Venus in Aries Square Jupiter in Capricorn) — New beginnings in all areas ruled by Pisces ~ See my blog Making Powerful New Moon in Pisces wishes to see the domains ruled
by Pisces. The Venus/Jupiter Square can bring some strife, obstacles, or doubts.
February 24 — Sun in Pisces Sextile Mars in Capricorn — Boosts to self-esteem can occur now (which can offset or bring a positive solution to whatever comes up from the Venus/Jupiter Square). Idealism in action is a sweet way I have seen this aspect manifest.
February 25-26 — Mercury in Pisces Sextile Mars in Capricorn — This second Pisces/Capricorn sextile can bring in additional opportunities. The key to this angle is to DO something with the possibilities presented. Even though Mercury is retrograde, small steps could be made now, especially in a flexible or experimental
situtation.
February 28 — Venus in Aries Square Pluto in Capricorn — Opposition in love or money is more likely now. It will likely pass quickly so don’t despair! The sweet aspect with Mercury and Uranus on this same day could help offset the challenge or bring a great solution from dealing with the issue at hand.
February 28 — Mercury in Pisces Sextile Uranus in Taurus — Sweet surprises are more likely with this aspect. Inventive ideas that honor tradition could help you blend feeling and logic in a productive way.
