December 2016  ~ Gifts from the Past

   The sweetness of November carries over through the entire month of December.  The one very notable difference is that November was full of blessings great for pushing forward into the new, launches, and taking clear and swift and decisive action, especially related to long-term goals and decisions.  After December 3, the mode now moves to observing the blessings that come in from the work already done in the recent and more distant past. 

    Opportunities will definitely come, but there are two important themes to note: 1. Don't work too hard trying to push for the opportunities or outcomes. The ones that are activated on a whim, like through a random urge to contact someone from the past, or ones that show up at your doorstep, will be better supported than the ones that are on a to-do list and where strong action towards a certain goal or outcome are being pushed for. 2. Understand the short-term nature of the opportunities and agreements that are created at this time.

    Mercury will be going retrograde on December 19 (and through January 8) and all of the month except the first several days will be covered in this shift inward and backward.  This transit doesn't mean nothing can be done, but it does mean that agreements won't be clear, information may be confusing or intentionally withheld, things agreed to will very likely change, whether each of the parties want them to or not, and arrangements intended to be long-term will be shorter and/or end differently than expected.  If short-term agreements or opportunities come, they can be well-supported but review agreements very carefully, leave wiggle room, and don't bank on any certain outcome.

     It is also very important to place December in the bigger time scheme.  As of December 3 we begin a long deep dive inward and back. This Mercury retrograde transit that starts the chain of retrogrades that continues to influence until the end of May 2017.  Mercury, then Venus, then Mercury will take turns being retrograde throughout this time.  Venus retrograde and its shadow in both directions are among the worst times to launch new businesses, relationships commitments or arrangements, or things involving beauty or aesthetics. The time from December 3 through the end of May 2017 is a time to try things on for several weeks or months but not commit to anything long-term, if possible.  It is a time to experiment, revise, fine-tine, reconsider, re-do, study and learn, research, go back to old friends and locations.  

     The Sagittarius spiraling and optimistic vibe continues through most of the month but the organized taskmaster Capricorn energy starts marching in and both will be felt at the same time.  It reminds me of Ms. Pacman, specifically when she eats a pellet that makes the ghosts edible and things start moving even faster in the expansion frenzy (Sagittarius), and then the ghosts start flickering and the mood changes as they turn serious again (Capricorn). The Capricorn vibe is more about getting down to business than having fun and freedom and this tone change gradually occurs through the month, ending off with the Capricorn vibe dominating.

      For launches or moving forward, take full advantage of December 1 and 3 as we won't have clear energy for new launches or long-term ventures until the end of May or early June of 2016.  Some other sweet times include December 6, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 24, 25, 27, 28 and 30.  Some times where challenges may permeate the good vibes are: December 10, 13, 19, 26, and 28.  Remember that we can often feel the energetic potentials of transits before or after the actual transit.

December 1 — Mars in Aquarius Trine Jupiter in Libra — This is a great time for positive rebellion and taking action on anything involving the internet, social interactions/media/groups, humanitarian efforts, and community projects.

December 3 — Mars in Aquarius Sextile Saturn in Sagittarius — This is the last great day for launches until the end of May 2017. Saturn combing with Mars in positive aspect can be great for long-term ventures.

December 6 — Mars in Aquarius Sextile Uranus in Aries — Surprise delights and actions that work out well come with this combination.  If things have to be done, this is a fine time but remember the retrograde energies are slowly closing in so think shorter term and keep an eye to the past as you reach for the future.

December 9 — Sun in Sagittarius Sextile Jupiter in Libra  —  This a great “feel-good” time of fun, creative expression, and open possibilities.

December 10 — Mercury in Capricorn Sextile Neptune in Pisces & Sun in Sagittarius Conjunct Saturn in Sagittarius  —  Art and practicality blend in a beautiful way at this time.

December 11-12 — Sun in Sagittarius Trine Uranus in Aries & Square Chiron in Pisces —  The fire trine sizzles with possibilities as the square brings up feelings of woundedness.

December 13 — Full Moon at 22° of Gemini  — This Full Moon is fully loaded!  All things Gemini (things related to short-term or short-distance travel, modes of transportation and communication, cousins, brothers, sisters, aunts, uncles, and grandparents, writing, and editing) are fair game to come to completion, fruition, culmination, possibly including drama. This Full Moon also trines Jupiter bringing more sizzle and expansion, opposes Saturn bringing resistance or blocks, sextiles Uranus bring zest and unexpected outcomes, trines Mars bringing the urge for action and squares Chiron offering chances to once again see old wounds resurface with profound chance for healing.

December 19 — Mercury Retrograde at 15° of Capricorn —  Mercury Retrograde continues until January 8, 2017 and the post retrograde shadow period continues through January 28, 2017.  Revisiting, revising, re-doing, refining, rediscovering, revaluing, and other things that look to the past and go back over things already done or considered become the short and long term theme at play.  

December 24 — Saturn in Sagittarius Trine Uranus in Aries —  When outer planets get together in meaningful angle the effects span much further than the day it occurs.  Saturn, the taskmaster and bringer of long-term stability merge in a powerful co-operation with Uranus, the  unstable bringer of change.  Old blocked patterns are shaken up and areas that needs solidifying experience tangible grounding with this planetary combo. The last time this aspect occurred was in 2003.  It is great energy for the holidays!

December 25 — Venus in Aquarius Trine Jupiter in Libra, Sextile Uranus in Aries, Sextile Saturn in Sagittarius  —  So much sweetness involving love, beauty, money, and harmony today!  It is perfect for holiday fun and wonderful memories.

December 26 — Jupiter in Libra Opposing Uranus in Aries — This transit happens around every 14 years  bringing the theme of necessary change to bring about expansion.  This theme will be a challenging one that will cloud the sunny energies in the days before and after.  The typical challenges people experience at holiday time will come up from this but there is so much other sweet energy occurring simultaneously that it could help soften it and/or bring more fuel for positive outcomes.

December 28-29 — New Moon at 8° of Capricorn — Saturn Square Uranus and Mercury in Capricorn Sextile Mars in Pisces

December 29 — Uranus Direct —  The electric bringer of change starts to regain full strength.  Seeds of change that were dormant now explode with life force energy to grow new circumstances.

December 30 — Sun in in Capricorn Sextile Neptune in Pisces  —  Abstract poetry and solid form combine together in a beautiful way at this time.
