August 2016 ~ “BURN BRIGHT! (then Rest & Respond”)
The window for moving things forward that opened in July continues until around August 10. There are some awesome transits for launches and plan-making during this first third of the month. The zesty Leo energies still strong early in the month encourage us to BURN BRIGHT!
The rest of the month also has some sweet planetary connections but because the Mercury retrograde shadow cycle begins after August 10 and Mercury retrograde officially starts August 30, as well as a potentially dramatic full moon on August 18 and a confusing square with Venus and Neptune on August 25, the second
two-thirds of the month is better for moving into rest and response mode vs. the initiation and planning mode that had carried as a theme for the previous 5 or 6 weeks.
and then there are the ECLIPSES ….
Twice in a calendar year we have a series of eclipses. Eclipses are notable astronomical events but can be even more notable astrological events. The key note of eclipses is CHANGE. The changes can run on a spectrum from barely noticeable to completely life-altering.
After
becoming conscious of the power of eclipse time to bring MAJOR change, many people have become afraid of them. They can definitely bring some unwelcome news and non-negotiable endings. But this same awesome power can bring things hoped for to fruition, freedom from seemingly unending negative patterns, and bright, new, opportunities.
Although the eclipses officially occur on September 1 (Solar Eclipse at 9 degrees of Virgo) and September 16 (Lunar Eclipse at 24 degrees of Pisces), they are worth mentioning in the August report as often eclipse “news” or events can occur up to 4-6 weeks before the actual eclipse, making all of August prime time for big news and big change.
The retrogrades and other energies mentioned earlier that are giving the advice to move into more of a rest and response mode are given even more support from the eclipses. Eclipse time is usually not a time to force or initiate action, it is a time to respond to the events and circumstances that arise. Since there is a great probability
that things, people, events, circumstances, will require your full attention, and possibly swift action, creating other static, drama, or distractions is not prudent.
October (after the 7th), all of November, and the early part of December hold the last and possibly most potent launch time of the whole year of 2016. It
is during this time that we will have the first run of time without any influence from retrograde personal planets. If big news comes in during August or September that can wait for you to act on until that window, great. Some things that come up may require immediate attention. With these things, try to make temporary arrangements and intermediary decisions to bridge until this time of more clarity. Both
retrogrades and eclipses can bring the need for immediate arrangements, the key is to try to make them short-term, like 4-6 months, instead of longer commitments, as news is still coming in during that time and will often change the original plan.
So the theme for the month is BURN BRIGHT early in the month, then REST & RESPOND for the
remainder and beyond :)

August 1 -- Venus in Leo Trine Uranus in Aries — This is a time to be BOLD! If you have been waiting to dye your hair blue, now would be a great time :) Venus rules beauty and Uranus rules the cutting edge. Surprises in love or money may also come now, likely welcome ones :)
August 6 -- Mercury in Virgo Square Saturn in Sagittarius — Hard news or criticism may come with this transit. Since Mercury moves quickly, the hassle or difficulty will likely blow over
quickly. If it doesn’t, it is probably attributed to the eclipses, which bring longer, more complicated stories.
August 10 -- Mercury in Virgo Trine Pluto in Capricorn — Good news and major insights tend to accompany this transit. Breakthroughs in an investigation or subject of deep study may occur now.
August 13 -- Saturn Direct in Sagittarius — Saturn in Sagittarius is a time when big dreams can take flight, but only by being disciplined and steadfast with efforts. While Saturn was retrograde, we had a little break from the tedious focus but now direct, Saturn means business. This can be a time for major hard work but usually with wonderful and
long-lasting outcomes.
August 16 -- Sun in Leo Trine Uranus in Aries — Inventiveness burns brightly. If you have a really good idea, get a plan together to bring it to life.
August 18 -- Full Moon at 25 degrees Aquarius — Fullness, completion, fruition and/or drama occurs in the areas of friendships, acquaintances, social media, groups, teams, humanitarian efforts, organizations, inventions, and internet-based projects or activities.
August 22 -- Mercury in Virgo Conjunct Jupiter in Virgo
— Big news or expanded travel tends to come with this combo :)
August 25 -- Venus in Sagittarius Square Neptune in Pisces — Things may not be as they seem in love or money. If an opportunity presents itself with either, it may be the real thing but try to hold off committing or officially agreeing to terms until
October if possible. This transit usually brings confusion, deception, or breaches to security.
August 27 -- Venus in Virgo Conjunct Jupiter in Virgo — Expansion comes to love, beauty, artistic expression, or beauty-related areas. Since Mercury is going retrograde so soon, let the expansion come to you instead of initiating
it and take great care before committing to anything long-term.
August 29 -- Mercury in Virgo Conjunct Venus in Virgo — News regarding money, love, artistic endeavor comes. Because of the line-up of the previous week, leading up to today’s transit, this will likely be a busy time for love, beauty, and
money.
August 30 - September 22 -- Mercury Retrograde starting at 29 degrees of Virgo — Mercury retrograde is an event that occurs 3 or 4 times a year. During the time of retrograde, it APPEARS as if the planet is moving backwards through the sky. Planets never really move backwards but the appearance of this movement creates a
notable increase in certain experiences. The focal points of Mercury retrograde manifestations generally revolve around communication (and devices), transportation and mobility (and vehicles of transport), relatives that are not your parents or children, and writing, editing, or gathering/sharing information. You can
