December 2024 Astrology ~ The MEGA WRAP UP ~ Entering the New Year FREE & CLEAR, + More

Here are some top points to know about the December 2024 Astrology. See my December 2024 Horoscope Videos/Podcasts  for more details and also in the date specific notes towards the end of this written report:

1. Finally, the 4-month spree of more stressful aspects compared to sweet ones balances out! They are about equal this month, with a handful of additional aspects that could go either way. The stars are shifting! There are much fewer road bumps throughout the month in December.

2. The retrograde story:

We are moving deeper into the retrograde story that I have been talking about for months. Mars AND Mercury retro this month bring an inward focus and deepen the attention to the past and the people and situations right in front of us. 

Mars retro is a LONG transit, especially when you take the shadow periods into account (which we must!) and this transit runs right into Venus retro in 2025 making it until late Spring 2025 (Fall for you all down under) before we untangle from the personal planet retro web. OFFICIAL MARS RETROGRADE is from December 6, 2024 - February 24, 2025 (with a long post-transit shadow period) but now as of October 7, every day will bring us deeper into the shadow period before the official retro and will amplify the things that tend to come with the retrograde transit.

Some GREAT things to do during Mars retro (and its’ shadow periods are):

~ Reflect and re-evaluate

~ Review and resolve past conflicts and negative patterns

~ Rest and rejuvenate

~ Revisit and Re-do things that worked before

~ Reduce ambitions and stay open to the flow instead of an agenda

~ Rather than focusing on outward ambitions, re-focus into “inner work”

~ Reassess vitality and health and implement strategies that restore vibrance

Mars retro is great for vacations and staycations, therapy/inner work, leaving room in your schedule to follow any (healthy) obsessions that come up (as for many, they will! Or unhealthy ones may have to be re-directed into better routes for maximum happiness :) )

Mars retro can also affect ambition. It may make you obsessed with something, to the exclusion of it, forgetting about and neglecting everything else, or could make even the most ambition person be seriously ready to chill out! I always look forward to Mars retro because it is so much easier to do less!

Starting in November, not only are the Mars retro energies stronger (and strengthening more every day!) but we added an additional layer to the retro story - Mercury retro (in Sagittarius).

Here are the important dates to note with this one:

November 8 we began the pre-shadow period for Mercury retro. That shadow period deepens every day from then until the official retro on November 25, the official retro lasts until December 14, and the post-shadow transit goes until January 3, 2025.

December is a time when plan that have been made are likely to be called into question and rescheduled or cancelled altogether. It is also a time when trying to plan too much for the future may not be easy and in general is not well-indicated. The whole of the retro flow from November 8 - January 3 is a fantastic time to return to courses or topics of study that you have started or been interested in starting, it is perfect for studying, and you may find that you are obsessed with learning or teaching. 

Leaving room for what I refer to as “last-minute magic” is a great idea and can be done by only scheduling what is necessary, making plans in pencil instead of in pen, leaving wiggle room to opt out if a magical opportunity presents itself.

Topics from the past are likely to come up, and if you need inspiration or help, people and ideas from the past could rush forward with support.

Mid-month, you will likely start to feel the shift of Mercury into its’ direct mode and although we will still have Mars retro, some clarity, direction, ease in planning and scheduling will be noticed as the month progresses after December 15th.

Ending the year with a Mercury retrograde wrapping up before the switch into the new calendar is very helpful for tying together loose ends for the year and moving into the New Year free and clear.

3. We are now OUT of the eclipse season and although we can always see movement along the themes that are in process from the Aries/Libra and Virgo/Pisces eclipse cycles, the heat is down and we are entering a time of more relaxed integration rather than active eclipse activity.

4. The two main zodiac stars this month are Sagittarius and Capricorn!

We also have a strong flow of Aquarius starting December 8th as Venus moves through, and continued strong Leo focus as Mars retro features that arena all month (and since November 5).

5. Sagittarius energies reign supreme for the second month in a row! Sagittarian energies took over the usually Scorpio-dominant November time and now continue in their usual month of dominion.

From November 22 - December 22, the Sun will be in Sagittarius, Mercury is also there all month (half the month in retro and half the month direct). 

Sagittarius is all about EXPANSION and ADVENTURE. Broadening of horizons is a key concept that will be calling out for attention. Luck, benevolence, and optimism are more key Sagittarius traits that will be noticeable this month.

Big-picture thinking will prevail during this time. Understanding the higher meaning or place where many individual points connect are opportunities of this time. Spiritual and philosophical pursuits will abound. Teaching and learning, other languages and cultures, immigration and long-distance travel, are all other Sagittarian ways that can express strongly at this time.

This energy is also super BUSY and can be very RESTLESS. The energy of Sagittarius moves in an upward spiral, getting its’ fingers into a lot of pudding pies aka. a diverse range of expression. It can also bring prolific communication or other types of expression!

The November Fire Party is further supported by the Mars move to fellow fire sign, Leo around November 5 and still running through all of December.

6. Venus is in Capricorn from November 12 - December 8, which helps to to ground out the excessive fire energy and bring practical realism and grounded uses of the inspiration that comes now. You may notice your attention being drawn to financial matters and this energy can well be used to wrap up business/finance/tax topics for 2024 and start to prepare for the New Year. The Sun will move into Capricorn December 22 and this shift will mean the end of the long Sagittarian party and represent clean-up time from the festivities, a time to rest and get organized, and a time to focus on strategies for the new chapters about to open. 

Capricorn energy is amazing for wrapping up loose ends and you can use this energy to step into the New Year free and clear.

Since we are still in Mars retro for a while, the strategizing can include long-term plans, but are best focused on foundational topics or shorter-term phases or steps, and temporary or experimental plans and agreements.

Venus moving into Aquarius will reiterate the experimental vibe that the retro energies are bringing.

7. Mars in Leo is a very vibrant placement, even in retrograde. Obsessive hyperfocus on creative endeavors will be a common manifestation and is a fantastic use of the energies. Children, romance, fun, hobbies, are all sectors highlighted by this transit and in retro, you may go back to things in these arena to clean up past mistakes, heal, and return to ways of being that really worked before.

Here are some very notable dates to look out for as aspects occur on these days. The days may be staggered in different time zones and all of the aspects last longer than just the day they are on so look out for manifestations BEFORE and AFTER the aspect dates:

SWEET ~ Wonderful boosts are more likely on or around these days: 1-2, 2, 4, 10, 12-13, 19, 23, 30-31.

SALTY ~ Drama or stress are more likely in the days around: 4, 4, 6, 15, 18, 24, 25, 26-27, 27-28.

Dates of transits that could go either way: 5, 7, 7, 12, 26.

Note, when a date is listed more than once for a sweet or salty, that is because there are MULTIPLE aspects that day!

November 30 ~ December 1 ~ New Moon at 9° of Sagittarius

Some great ways to use this brilliant New Moon are:

~ Make wishes for anything in the arenas ruled by Sagittarius (teaching, learning, writing, publishing, different countries, languages, cultures, international or long-distance travel, international business, adventure, expansion)

December 30 ~ New Moon at 9° of Capricorn (This is a Black Moon for Eastern time zone and Zones to the the East of there). 

Use this New Moon for:

~ Strategizing

~ Being disciplined

~ Becoming a better manager (or if you manage too much, focus on delegating)

~ Assessing your ambitions

~ Planting seeds for your future success 

~ Work on tedious financial matters
 

~ Find a new or better job

~ Setting intentions and making wishes on topics of Capricorn-ruled areas (see below blog for details)

ASPECTS TO BE EXTRA CAREFUL & AWAREFUL AROUND:

The stars have fewer challenged connections this month and for every annoying one, there is a sweet one to balance it out!

The biggest pressure point this month lasts all month!

The Jupiter in Gemini Square Saturn in Pisces aspect was solidly present for most of August and September 2024 and has come back into exact connection again. The energies are present ALL month and they especially ramp up in the second half of December, with the exact aspect occurring in the days around December 24. 

THIS TRANSIT MAY BRING UP DEEP QUESTIONS ABOUT HOW OVERSTIMULATION FROM INFORMATION AND INTERACTIONS IS NEGATIVELY AFFECTING YOUR EMOTIONAL WELL-BEING.

Here is a repost of what to look out for:

Jupiter in Gemini and Saturn in Pisces, a rough square.

This aspect can bring in the challenge of wanting to explore new ideas, places, etc. but a corresponding need for caution or extra care, or some kind of external block stopping what seems like the natural flow. This aspect has some of the energy of the Mars aspect with Saturn with the likeness of some natural flow being impeded in some way but this Jupiter aspect takes on a broader meaning and can be more all-encompassing.

Maybe you want to travel but you can’t get your passport in time, or you want to start a school program but can’t afford it or for some other reason it isn’t accessible, there could be social aspirations that are blocked by a gatekeeper that is demanding too much. These are just a few ways the energies can manifest.

Communication within yourself, out onto to the paper (like a writing project), or conversing with others, could be labored or fruitless. Delays and frustrations of various types can also manifest in any area of life.

Some positive potentials of this mega transit are:

Balanced growth (as opposed to unchecked and overwhelming growth), which can be better for the long term.

Disciplined learning (like a situation where you are at first excited about learning something, then you get to the part where it is hard and you want to give up but you have to summon the strength to forge ahead in the absence of passion).

Strategic communication (where you work out your emotions BEFORE you attempt to convey your concerns to others so that the conversation is about the topic, not the charge you have to it).

The extent of the manifestation is wide, like all of August AND September but may be most noticeable in the times closer to August 19.

Also look out for a series of other Squares with Saturn:

December 4 ~ Sun in Sagittarius Square Saturn in Pisces

December 6  then again on December 26-27 ~ Mercury in Sagittarius Square Saturn in Pisces

Squares with personal planets in Sagittarius with Saturn show an impeding of flow, a stopping of expansion, tests to optimism, stern or unapproving responses from pure-of-heart expression, and blocks to inspiration. It can also bring more efficiency and productivity as a wide scope is reigned in to a narrower focus. You can use this energy to your advantage and you can see any blocks to movement or expression as being ‘protective’ and helping you to be more discerning with how you are using your energy.

Many words and actions get clipped to be shorter and fewer and this may seem annoying but it can also save you time and energy. Look for ways to do this consciously and you will be making the most of the potentials. 

Key words: DISCERNMENT, STREAMLINING

Even if nuisances come up from these Squares, you can consciously use them, especially in conjunction with the retrograde energies, to wrap up old energies and loose ends, karmically and otherwise, to help you enter the New Year with more vigor and readiness for new chapters.

MY TOP FAVE ASPECTS OF DECEMBER 2024:

Remember that you can experience the good vibes BEFORE and AFTER the dates listed as the web of influence extends beyond the day of exact connection. 

We have FIVE Trines this month! A trine is the sweetest, most easily flowing connection between stars.

December 1-2, 2, 10, 19, and 30-31each have one of these magical transits.

In the days around these aspects, look for extra luck, positivity, optimism, ease, and things you have been wanting to manifest to fall into your lap.

A trine with Venus in Capricorn and Uranus in Taurus in the days around December 2 add the element of surprise and things popping in out-of-the-blue especially in love, money, and confidence. A brilliant idea that could turn out to be very prosperous is magnified in possibility. Ideas may be fleeting so writing down anything great that comes in so you don’t forget is a good idea.

Sun in Sagittarius Trine Chiron in Aries in the days around December 10 can bring in long-awaited good health news. You may notice a major shift in perception that changes how you experience something, even if that something has not changed at all.

December 19 is one to mark on your calendar, for sure!  The days around this transit of Venus in Aquarius Trine Jupiter in Gemini has potential for blockbuster luck, amazing money news, and positive romantic shifts.

We end the year with a beautiful connection - Mercury in Sagittarius is making a Trine with Chiron in Aries (the same connection the Sun made in the days around December 10). I love this aspect for profound healing to come, especially from the sharing of an inner truth that may have been buried for a long time. Conversation and communication will feature strongly with healing, and mediums such as singing, writing, creating art, music, etc. can be conduits for taking important steps towards vibrant well-being.
