January 2025 Astrology ~ Happy New Year! Bubbles of Newness Popping Out of the Retrograde Fog + more 

Here are some top points to know about the January 2025 Astrology. See my January 2025 Horoscope Videos/Podcasts  for more details and also in the date specific notes towards the end of this written report:

1. I am always happy to report that we have more sweet aspects compared to salty as we do this month! The month starts out with a clash followed by a series of nuisance aspects but as the month progresses, it gets infinitely lighter and more positive.

2. The retrograde story:

Mars officially went retrograde December 6, 2024 and will stay moving backwards until February 24, 2025. 

Mars retro is a LONG transit, especially when you take the shadow periods into account (which we must!) and this transit runs right into Venus retro in 2025 making it until late Spring 2025 (Fall for you all down under) before we untangle from the personal planet retro web. Some GREAT things to do during Mars retro (and its’ shadow periods are):

~ Reflect and re-evaluate

~ Review and resolve past conflicts and negative patterns

~ Rest and rejuvenate

~ Revisit and Re-do things that worked before

~ Reduce ambitions and stay open to the flow instead of an agenda

~ Rather than focusing on outward ambitions, re-focus into “inner work”

~ Reassess vitality and health and implement strategies that restore vibrance

Mars retro is great for vacations and staycations, therapy/inner work, leaving room in your schedule to follow any (healthy) obsessions that come up (as for many, they will! Or unhealthy ones may have to be re-directed into better routes for maximum happiness :) )

Mars retro can also affect ambition. It may make you obsessed with something, to the exclusion of it, forgetting about and neglecting everything else, or could make even the most ambition person be seriously ready to chill out! I always look forward to Mars retro because it is so much easier to do less!

As of January 3, we are completely out of the web of Mercury retrograde and it is this main point that will give some feeling of January 1st beginning a new year. Mars still being in retrograde will keep layers of inward and backward energies strong but coming out of the Mercury piece will bring a ramp up of clarity and the ability to start to have an easier time making future plans and scheduling. You will feel the bubbles of newness lifting from out of the retrograde fog.

Then, as of January 28, we add Venus retrograde pre-shadow to the mix! Take advantage of any forward movement you feel earlier in the month as the slide deeper inward and backwards will strengthen starting from this day.

3. February will start eclipse season again and some noteworthy new or events are possible even in the second half of January. 4. The four main zodiac stars this month are Capricorn, Aquarius, Pisces, and Cancer!

The Sun in Capricorn through January 19 and Mercury there from January 9-29 will bring the urge or the need for discipline and organization. This energy is PERFECT for starting a new year! You can get your ducks in a row right from the beginning of the month. Conversations you have been avoiding or tedious work (like taxes) can be better taken on now. Practicality and realism will flavor this time. Any excesses from the long string of Sagittarius energy (that even continues officially until January 8 as Mercury finishes off its’ transit there), will have a chance to be rectified or pulled back into better balance as the Capricorn transits deepen. 

The restless energy of Sagittarius starts to ground out into Capricorn and new systems and new rhythms can be put into place to launch your new year out right.

5. Aquarius energies through the Sun starting around January 20 and Mercury starting around January 29, will introduce the themes that will hold for the upcoming weeks. Social connections will start to amp up. Feeling connected to community or group efforts is a key theme of this time, as is working with technology in new and better ways, or the retrograde can bring the draw to a digital detox.

Innovation, independence, and individuality are other themes that can come up during Aquarius transits. 

6. Venus will be in Pisces from January 4 until February 5 bringing a softer side to relationships and personal expression. This transit can trigger a need for quiet reflection time, working behind the scenes, and connecting with others in secret or private space. It is fantastic for artistic pursuits, relaxation, and retreat. It matches the Mars and Venus retro energies of going inward and backward and you may find yourself returning to ways of doing things in love, money, creative expression, or other habits, that worked before.

7. Mars in retrograde returns back to Cancer, bringing back focus to home, family, housing, and real estate topics that may have been in focus a few months ago (before Mars went into Leo and the started retrograding through that sign). Cancer energy matches Pisces energy through their shared watery expression so having Venus and Mars in a matching retrograde water duo can be very healing to relationships and bring forgiveness and understanding, softening hardened hearts and fixed minds.

Here are some very notable dates to look out for as aspects occur on these days. The days may be staggered in different time zones and all of the aspects last longer than just the day they are on so look out for manifestations BEFORE and AFTER the aspect dates:

SWEET ~ Wonderful boosts are more likely on or around these days: 4, 12, 13, 14, 17, 18-19, 19, 23, 23, 25, 26, 26, and 30.

SALTY ~ Drama or stress are more likely in the days around: 2, 3, 3, 3, 6, 7, 8, 15, 16, and 21.

Dates of transits that could go either way: 18 and 21.

Note, when a date is listed more than once for a sweet or salty, that is because there are MULTIPLE aspects that day!

ASPECTS TO BE EXTRA CAREFUL & AWAREFUL AROUND:

The stars have fewer challenged connections this month. There are a series of nuisance aspects from early in the month until around January 21st but there are two mega aspects that you will most profoundly experience.

One of the biggest pressure point this month lasts all month and is a carry over from the exact aspect December 24, 2024!

The Jupiter in Gemini Square Saturn in Pisces aspect was solidly present for most of August and September 2024 and has come back into exact connection again. The energies are present ALL month and they especially ramp up in the second half of December, with the exact aspect occurring in the days around December 24.

THIS TRANSIT MAY BRING UP DEEP QUESTIONS ABOUT HOW OVERSTIMULATION FROM INFORMATION AND INTERACTIONS IS NEGATIVELY AFFECTING YOUR EMOTIONAL WELL-BEING.

Here is a repost of what to look out for:

Jupiter in Gemini and Saturn in Pisces, a rough square.

This aspect can bring in the challenge of wanting to explore new ideas, places, etc. but a corresponding need for caution or extra care, or some kind of external block stopping what seems like the natural flow. This aspect has some of the energy of the Mars aspect with Saturn with the likeness of some natural flow being impeded in some way but this Jupiter aspect takes on a broader meaning and can be more all-encompassing.

Maybe you want to travel but you can’t get your passport in time, or you want to start a school program but can’t afford it or for some other reason it isn’t accessible, there could be social aspirations that are blocked by a gatekeeper that is demanding too much. These are just a few ways the energies can manifest.

Communication within yourself, out onto to the paper (like a writing project), or conversing with others, could be labored or fruitless. Delays and frustrations of various types can also manifest in any area of life.

Some positive potentials of this mega transit are:

Balanced growth (as opposed to unchecked and overwhelming growth), which can be better for the long term.

Disciplined learning (like a situation where you are at first excited about learning something, then you get to the part where it is hard and you want to give up but you have to summon the strength to forge ahead in the absence of passion).

Strategic communication (where you work out your emotions BEFORE you attempt to convey your concerns to others so that the conversation is about the topic, not the charge you have to it).

The extent of the manifestation is wide, like all of August AND September but may be most noticeable in the times closer to August 19.

The second most powerful and challenging aspects this month is on

January 3, 2025 ~ Mars in Leo Opposing Pluto in Aquarius

The aspect that may be the most obvious in your conscious experience is the second connection of Mars opposing Pluto. This happened the first time in the early days of November 2024, but this time instead of being in the last degrees of Capricorn and Cancer, the clash moves to the very early degrees of Leo and Aquarius. This transit will happen a third time at the end of April 2025.

These energies are powerful and can be felt 7-10 days BEFORE and AFTER the official date of connection which is January 3, 2025.

The top things to be careful during the weeks surrounding this transit are power struggles, anger intensification, obsessiveness, and destructive tendencies. Tempers will be at an all-time high and one spark could light an uncontainable fire.

ONE OF THE MOST IMPORTANT THINGS TO KNOW ABOUT THIS ASPECT IS THAT SINCE IT IS TAKING PLACE DURING MARS RETROGRADE, ANY ASSERTION OF VIOLENCE, NEGATIVITY, OR WAR-LIKE BEHAVIOUR WILL BOOMERANG BACK WITH AN AMPLIFIED STRENGTH.

Negative or violent attacks, verbal or any other way, may be met with surprising returned force. Finding healthier and more productive ways to deal with the surge of anger and resentment that may come up at this time will keep you and others safe and protect you from negative ramifications that will likely come from any act of aggression.

This can be a powerful time of dealing with anger issues to bring profound healing making it a mega-perfect time for ‘inner work’.

Making peace with the enemy within is the way most supported now.

MY TOP FAVE ASPECTS OF JANUARY 2025:

Remember that you can experience the good vibes BEFORE and AFTER the dates listed as the web of influence extends beyond the day of exact connection. 

Almost half the days of this month have a sweet aspect during them and each one lasts days before and after the official transit!

We have a string of trines that can delight and light up your world!

After the stress of the early clash in the month with Mars and Pluto, the energies settle down and move much smoother.

Look out for extra blessings and bubbles of goodness to pop up everywhere in the days around these transits. We also have a ton of textiles this month, which are aspects of positive opportunity speckled throughout the month (see the SWEET aspect date earlier in this report to fill in the other great aspect dates not listed below).

January 12 ~ Mars in Cancer Trine Neptune in Pisces

This aspect brings a gentle blend of motivation and intuition, helping people act compassionately and align their efforts with a sense of higher purpose. It’s a beautiful time for creative or healing endeavors, as sensitivity and imagination guide practical actions.

January 13 ~ Sun in Capricorn Trine Uranus in Taurus

This trine encourages innovative breakthroughs within stable structures, making it ideal for taking calculated risks that lead to lasting improvements. It’s a great opportunity to embrace fresh ideas and unique approaches that enhance personal or professional foundations.

January 23 ~ Mercury in Capricorn Trine Uranus in Taurus

Expect flashes of insight that spark practical solutions, as this aspect makes it easier to communicate original ideas in clear, grounded ways. It’s perfect for thinking outside the box while staying focused on realistic outcomes that create positive change.

January 30 ~ Sun in Aquarius Trine Jupiter in Gemini

This aspect inspires optimism, learning, and expanding one’s network, as both social connections and knowledge-sharing flow with ease. It’s an excellent time to pursue new ideas, broaden perspectives, and connect with people who share similar aspirations.
