October 2024 Astrology ~ Cosmic Mergers and Mystical Journeys ~ The Veils Between Worlds are Thin This Month!

Here are some top points to know about the October 2024 Astrology. See my October 2024 Horoscope Videos/Podcasts  for more details and also in the date specific notes towards the end of this written report. This is an extra intense month so this report is extra packed with info to help you navigate the starry weather.

1. This is the third month in a row that has an annoying imbalance of salty aspects compared to sweet! While these are smaller aspects that tend to blow through fairly quickly, they will no doubt be felt as speed bumps to progress and will manifest as various intermittent nuisances. Along with September, October is definitely one of the most intense astrological months of the year, both from many conflicted aspects PLUS we are still in the most intense part of ECLIPSE SEASON that will bring profound changes for better and worse, like disruptions to current trajectories or rapid manifestation of lifelong dreams. (More on the eclipses later!) 

Another very important point to remember about this month is that despite the number of nuisance aspects, we do also have at least 11 wonderful ASTRO KISSES, which is where the stars make glorious configuration bringing boosts of sweet energy for days at a time.

2. The retrograde summary is the same as what I listed last month:

As of September 12 and through October 6, we are in the last period free from personal planet retrogrades for a long while! This open period goes until Mars retro shadow begins on October 7. Mars retro is a LONG transit, especially when you take the shadow periods into account (which we must!) and this transit runs right into Venus retro in 2025 making it until late Spring 2025 (Fall for you all down under) before we untangle from the personal planet retro web. I am sending this report out to you early so that you can use this window very wisely and efficiently since now you know that the energy for launches or trying to push things forward will be seriously diminished for an extended period of time after the first week of October.

Mars retro can also affect ambition. It may make you obsessed with something, to the exclusion of it, forgetting about and neglecting everything else, or could make even the most ambition person be seriously ready to chill out! I always look forward to Mars retro because it is so much easier to do less!

So from September 12 - October 6 make the most of this forward movement for your big plans, major decisions, future planning, and doing anything that you want to be in effect for a long time.

Something else important to know is that you won’t be the only one ready to rest and show up less, OTHERS who you may be trying to employ will also be feeling this! So if you need to hire others to get things done, take the timetable I shared into consideration.

OFFICIAL MARS RETROGRADE is from December 6, 2024 - February 24, 2025 (with a long post-transit shadow period) but now as of October 7, every day will bring us deeper into the shadow period before the official retro and will amplify the things that tend to come with the retrograde transit.

Some GREAT things to do during Mars retro (and its’ shadow periods are):

~ Reflect and re-evaluate

~ Review and resolve past conflicts and negative patterns

~ Rest and rejuvenate

~ Revisit and Re-do things that worked before

~ Reduce ambitions and stay open to the flow instead of an agenda

~ Rather than focusing on outward ambitions, re-focus into “inner work”

~ Reassess vitality and health and implement strategies that restore vibrance

Mars retro is great for vacations and staycations, therapy/inner work, leaving room in your schedule to follow any (healthy) obsessions that come up (as for many, they will! Or unhealthy ones may have to be re-directed into better routes for maximum happiness :) )

3. WE ARE in the MOST INTENSE HEAT of ECLIPSE SEASON in September and October with the energies having starting to flare strongly in August, and trailing into November before the calm returns.

This eclipse season, we feature TWO eclipse cycles! We are in our second to last run of the Aries/Libra eclipse cycle, which started in 2023 and goes through the first half of 2025 AND we are starting a new eclipse polarity, Virgo/Pisces!

Here are the relevant dates for this cycle: 

September 17, Full Moon/Lunar Eclipse at 25° of Pisces and October 2, New Moon/Solar Eclipse at 10 ° of Libra.

4. The two main zodiac stars this month are Libra and Scorpio! Both of these signs are the rulers of relationships. The hands of Divine are busy at work creating COSMIC MERGERS with this energy!

Libra energies through the Sun (from September 23 until October 23) and Mercury (from September 27 - October 14) PLUS the Solar Eclipse at 10° Libra on October 2, will bring relationships into center stage. Reflections of our inner triumphs and old, outworn, negative patterns, may show more clearly through others right now. The state of our relationships, AND the relationship TO relationship will come into more clear focus. New chapters may burst through quickly and in cases where there is still conflict, finding accord may be the mission this month.

Scorpio energies will express through the Sun starting around October 23, through Mercury around October 14, and will be present through Venus from September 24 through around October 18. The urge to merge will be strong and the relationship evaluation from the Libra transits may bring us into deeper involvement with the people who make the cut. Scorpio time, is a watery, deeply emotional time, where introspection and raw evaluation of our true motives, and those of others, can bring valuable insights. All of this is within the deepening web of Mars retro shadow period and since Mars is a co-ruler of Scorpio, part of the Scorpio story will very much have a tilt to the past. A brilliant chance to heal anger and usher in forgiveness can enter now. You may have to do work to get the gold. Scorpio rules things underground (including precious metals and gems), so digging through the muck to find the sparkle is what is asked for now.

Scorpio as a water sign, is a ruler of the mysterious mystical realms. MYSTICAL JOURNEYS are likely this month. Follow the synchronicities and be awake to the signs from the Universe!

5. After Venus leaves Scorpio around October 18, it will go into Sagittarius which will open up the festivities for the fire party that will build from this point on. The transition from water to fire usually represents a coming out of the abyss of emotion with more lightness, freedom, and flow. The dates around this shift into Sagittarius will likely be a welcome relief from what could have been a very heavy stretch of many weeks.

6. Mars will be in still Cancer almost all month until November 5, and it will be much sooner to return here than in its usual 2.2 year transit because of the impending retrograde. As such, anything that comes up from the themes of this transit, may shift next month but won’t truly be worked out until the deeper work is done in the months to come. Take note of the themes that come up now as you will likely see them again soon.

This time of Mars moving through Cancer will bring attention to the arenas of home, housing, and family matters. Real estate topics will be likely to come up strongly.

MARS RETRO SHADOW PERIOD BEGINS OCTOBER 6 and this full retro transit will be influencing until MAY 2025!

Note, when a date is listed more than once for a sweet or salty, that is because there are MULTIPLE aspects that day!

SWEET ~ Wonderful boosts are more likely on or around these days: 4, 8, 8, 12, 13, 15, 17, 21-22, 24, 28, and 31.

SALTY ~ Drama or stress are more likely in the days around: 3, 5-6, 6, 8, 10, 10, 11, 13, 13, 13, 14, 14, 18-19, 20, 26-27, 28, and 30.

Notable Moon Dates:

October 2 ~ New Moon/Solar Eclipse at 10° of Libra

Some great ways to use this brilliant New Moon Eclipse are:

~ Focus on new beginnings (brand new or new chapters of what is remaining in process). New Moons are about new beginnings and eclipses often have THREE times the energy of regular moons so the chance for a very new clean slate is much more likely at this time.

~ Dive deep into finding a new level of balance. Libra is all about balance! The new energies coming in can help a new sense of previously seemingly impossible balance to roll in. If this happens, write down what you are doing that is working so that if/when things get out of balance in the future, you can refer to your notes of what worked before.

~ Embrace the power of partnership. Libra is also all about partnerships. This is a time when Anything important you do will likely wind up being better if you do it with someone else. Problems will be solved through others or you may be someones saving grace.

October 17 ~ Full Moon/Super Moon at 24° of Aries

Even though we are officially finished with the eclipse moons for this season, this one will still carry some massive power as it is another SUPER MOON, which means that it will be closer to the Earth, it will look bigger in the sky, and its’ gravitational effects will be stronger!

~ Release anger and frustration. Aries rules these emotions and Mars, Aries’ ruler, is moving deeper into retrograde energy and as it does, things that were swept under the rug surrounding these topics, are likely to come out very strongly. Healing the sources of frustration and anger may also involve delving into restoring the optimal functioning of your digestive system as when it is overburdened, especially the gallbladder and liver, the energetics of anger and resentment tend to come up. All types of emotional release also match well with the energies of the full moon. 

~ Claiming independence. Much of this month has been about relationships, this moon focuses on the relationship with self. Finding ways you may be unproductively dependent in some area of your life and setting to remedy them, could be great use of the elucidating and clearing energies of the full moon.

~ Boundary setting. The energy of Aries tends to be very clear and decisive. Setting healthy boundaries can be a great way to use this energy now!

Full moons can be a great time to pray for or do inner work towards getting inner answers. Doing ceremony to bring to light the answers to your inner questions can be exceptionally powerful now. The closeness of the Moon to the Earth can be extra helpful for excavation.

ANOTHER NOTABLE DATE: October 9 - Jupiter goes retrograde in Gemini. 

Jupiter in retro can put a damper on expansion and optimism. If you feel suddenly unsure about your big plans in life, don’t despair. This is purposeful! Jupiter expands but expansion to be sustainable and kept going in the best direction, there have to be times when progress and direction are slowed and assessed. If something involving anything ruled by Jupiter, education, teaching, publishing, speaking, spiritual studies, immigration, international businesses, languages, cultures, and travel (especially long-distance), seem to be slowing down or your ambitions are waning, this retrograde is likely why. The retrograde can also have the opposite effect. If things in a Jupiter-ruled area had been without energy, interest, or direction, sometimes the turning of the tides brings the vigor back. Trust the flow! To resist the influence of this gigantic gas giant is futile anyway.

ASPECTS TO BE EXTRA CAREFUL & AWAREFUL AROUND:

As you can see from my ‘salty’ aspect list, there is quite a bit of mischief AGAIN this month (just as there was last month! All month be on extra guard! Here are some of the challenging ones I am highlighting from my salty list.

A Bunch of Inconjuncts

Many of the challenged aspects this month are inconjuncts. The dates these will occur are: October 3, 6, 10, 11, 18-19, 20, and 26-27. Remember also that several days BEFORE and AFTER can be influenced by these energies.

Here are the things you will likely see in the days around these in conjunct aspects:

~ The need for adjustment and compromise. The connections between planets making this angle don’t naturally speak the same or even a similar language. In order to get things to flow, tweaking and modification to what is natural for you may be necessary.

~ The lack of common ground. This can also be described like “ships passing in the night”, where large vessels in each others’ presence do not notice or interact despite their proximity.

~ Tension without resolution. While a square or opposition angle can crack or push and pull into a solution after tension, this type of angle is often constricted without the later fulfillment of a resolution coming from the tightness.

~ Awkwardness. An inevitable potential of this lack of common ground and tendency towards tension without resolution is awkwardness, plain and simple, without excuse or remedy.

While the aspects themselves are often unresolved and unfulfilling, topics brought up at this time could result in eventual growth opportunities, although not usually timed close to the awkwardness.

Two Chiron Oppositions:

October 8 and then October 13 there is a Chiron opposition first with Mercury, then the Sun. Chiron in Aries and the others in Libra will definitely bring the potential for conflicts with others or self-esteem zings.

Two Uranus Oppositions:

October 14 and then October 30, an opposition with Venus in Scorpio and Uranus in Taurus and then one with Mercury in Scorpio with Uranus in Taurus can bring money or intimacy upsets. Alternatively, very fleeting, but very exciting opportunities in love or money.

Remember that you can experience the good vibes BEFORE and AFTER the dates listed as the web of influence extends beyond the day of exact connection. 

A String of Sweet Venus Aspects!

Venus rules love and relationships, money and finances, design, artistic flair, and self-confidence. These aspects can bring boosts in any of these areas.

October 4 ~ Venus in Scorpio Trine Saturn in Pisces  

This could bring a deepening of intimate connection or mutual understanding in a very key relationship. It can also bring financial benefits from long-term association or new connections that could build for a long time.

October 15 ~ Venus in Scorpio Trine Neptune in Pisces  

This is a highly romantic and creative connection. Deep soul love and understanding could blossom under this transit. Money could also come in from soul connections or artistic expression.

October 17  ~ Venus in Scorpio Sextile Pluto in Capricorn 

Positive and powerful transformation can come from this connection. Financial or emotional support or healing can result from this transit.

Three Sweet Mercury Aspects:

Sweet Mercury aspects can bring great news and rewarding social interactions. Information that lights up your life somehow can roll in from this transits or they can serve to help you better communicate or create something brilliant.

October 8 ~ Mercury in Libra Trine Jupiter in Gemini

Negotiations, agreements, and communication of every type can flourish under this transit. Partnerships can thrive and the expansiveness and optimism of Jupiter can bring about great possibilities.

October 21-22 ~ Mercury in Scorpio Trine Saturn in Pisces

This aspect is great for problem-solving and disciplined thinking. It is also great for future planning, keeping in mind that Mars retro is deepening and Jupiter retro is happening now, too. Discussing things in the realms of possibilities and theoreticals can protect against retro commitments that will likely later be second-guessed. This can be a great time to take inventory of past accomplishments and the things that have worked well before, using them as a model for moving forward.

October 31 ~ Mercury in Scorpio Trine Neptune in Pisces

I love that there is a great aspect for Samhain/Halloween as it can add to the fun festivities. The Neptune transit can aid in tuning in to the realms beyond our conscious awareness and help the veils between worlds, which are already thin at this time, to become thinner. It can be perfect for sending prayers to those who have passed and boosts the chances for synchronicities to bring those greetings back to you from beyond in clear and obvious ways.

Long-lasting Outer Planet Aspect!

October 12 ~ Jupiter in Gemini Sextile Chiron in Aries

(While the exact connection is on October 12, the planets will be close together and the energies will be strong from the end of August 2024 through the middle of December 2024 and then will return in 2025)

Chiron is about healing and Jupiter is about expansion. When these come together in a favorable aspect, here are some possible potentials:

~ Bridging Mind and Spirit

Accessing the innate healing power of the body and information from intuition that can aid you on your healing journey are both supercharged with this transit.

~ Personal Empowerment

Finding and giving a voice to the fears or suppressed pain you have been holding onto can yield transformative results. Both of these outcomes are expanded with this transit.

~ Healing through Communication

Figuring out the words and way of expressing them that can help others understand what you need or let others know they are heard are both great potentials of this time.

~ Helping Others from Challenges You Have Had

Chiron is very much about healing through helping others from the pain that you have had. Sometimes this experience can give reason to the pain or soften the memory of it in some way. 

~ Accelerating Intuition
