August 2024 Astrology ~ ECLIPSE SEASON RETURNS (TWO Eclipse Cycles at Play!) + More…

Here are some top points to know about the August 2024 Astrology. See my August 2024 Horoscope Videos/Podcasts  for more details and also in the date specific notes towards the end of this written report:

1. This is the first month since I can remember that has such a drastic imbalance of salty aspects compared to sweet! BUT DON’T WORRY! The vast majority of these are in conjunct aspects which are more ‘uncomfortable’ than ‘bad’. They are more mismatched energies than anything else as they have no commonality in element, modality, or polarity. The main themes are of adjustment, adaptation, and integration. 

Think oil trying to mix with water. Things have to be shaken up a bit for even that momentary experience of blending, then shortly after, the separation occurs again. A common way this can manifest is you having to be someone else or put on a mask or show to keep peace or have protection. These aspects blow through quickly so you will be able to get back to yourself soon but understanding what is going on can help you shapeshift as necessary during many key points throughout the month.

I will give you all the salty dates to watch later in this report but I will call out the inconjunct dates now so you can differentiate and know your cues to shapeshift :)

August 4, 9-10, 15, 21, 22, and 23 and SEVERAL DAYS BEFORE AND AFTER THESE DATES the energy will also be present.

2. As of July 17, we are back in the web of the Mercury retrograde cycle. We only have one more open slot free from personal planet retrogrades and their shadow periods this year so make the most of this forward movement for your big plans, major decisions, future planning, and doing anything that you want to be in effect for a long time. This open period BEFORE July 17 (if you are reading this before then), favors big launches, major decisions, clarity for present and future planning, commitments, contracts, events, trips, and general ease and flow compared to the retro when scheduling can be a nightmare. Mars shadow and then retro will take up the last part of the year, plus one more Mercury retro. This double retro bam will slow things done and make it much harder to rely on others to do what they are supposed to do! Also, you might lose your ambition so take advantage of any oomph you have before July 17. After then, it is time to wait on the shore and instead of launching your projects out to sea, just chill out and wait to see what the tides bring in to you and give those things your full attention.

August 4 is the official mercury retrograde time and it will stay retro until August 28, regaining full steam by September 12. These dates could be staggered depending on your time zone but ALL days around these days carry extra intensity from the direction changes.

From July 17 through September 12, if you leave yourself as unscheduled as possible, you will avoid constant rescheduling, confusion, stress, AND leave yourself wide open to say YES to last-minute magic that tends to come up during this transit.

3. WE ARE BACK IN ECLIPSE SEASON in August with the energies blasting full on in September & October, with the intensity trailing into November before the calm returns.

This eclipse season, we feature TWO eclipse cycles! We are in our second to last run of the Aries/Libra eclipse cycle, which started in 2023 and goes through the first half of 2025 AND we are starting a new eclipse polarity, Virgo/Pisces!

Here are the relevant dates for this cycle: 

September 17, Full Moon/Lunar Eclipse at 25° of Pisces and October 2, New Moon/Solar Eclipse at 10 ° of Libra.

I will talk more about the general implications for these eclipses and drill down into the potentials for each zodiac sign at a later point.

4. The two main zodiac stars this month are Leo and Virgo!

The Sun (until August 23), Mercury retro, and Venus (until August 6), will all bring strong Leo energy.

Leo time is a time for vibrant self-expression. A time for vibrating your heartsong LOUDLY and PROUDLY. It can bring children into focus (yours or others), or feature “creative babies”, things that you are trying to birth into the world. It can also be a time for pure FUN. Anything that makes you LIGHT UP and LIFT like a sunflower stretching happily towards the Sun is what this time is all about.

Virgo energies through the Sun (starting August 23), Mercury (until August 16th and then again September 10-16), Venus (August 6-29), all bring opportunities to get back to the basics and enrich your daily experience with new routines that can bring great joy, organization and efficiency. The Virgo times help us with focus and discipline and often bring our attention to health or daily needs of ourselves or others (including pets and other animals).

5. Mars will be in Gemini all month. Mars will stay in Gemini until September 6 so be prepared to keep up a busy pace, a little more wild than you may want your summer (or winter for you all down under) resting time, but full of things that you may not have had time for during other parts of the year.

Gemini energy rules options and distractions. It favors the new and interesting but since we still have strong retro energies, the “new” may turn out to be something or someone rediscovered from your past.

It is a very social energy so expect many “blasts from the past” from people you haven’t seen in a while or travel to places that you have been before.

Note, when a date is listed more than once for a sweet or salty, that is because there are MULTIPLE aspects that day!

Sweet boosts are more likely on or around these days: 15, 23, 23-24, 24, 27, and 29.

Drama or stress are more likely in the days around: 2, 4, 5, 7, 7, 9-10, 14, 15, 15-16, 18, 18-19, 10, 19, 19, 21, 22, 22, 23, and 28. (See the beginning of this report for info about the in conjunct angle dates and what to know about them.)

Aspects that can manifest either way dates: 14 and 18.

August 19 ~ Full Moon/Supermoon/Blue Moon at 27° of Aquarius!

In July we had a second Full Moon in a sign in a row (the June one was 1° of Capricorn Full Moon on June 21), making June 21 a BLUE MOON. 

Now, we have the very rare circumstance of a SECOND BLUE MOON in a row!!  This can only happen when two of the 3 definitions of what makes a Blue Moon happen in a row.

The 3 ways we can have a Blue Moon are:

A second Full Moon in a Zodiac sign. (This one is the June 21 Blue Moon).

A second Full Moon in a calendar month.

And the astronomical definition of a “Seasonal Blue Moon” is the third Full Moon of an astronomical season that has four Full Moons and happens between the summer solstice and the fall equinox (This one is the August 19 Blue Moon).

The Full Moon is a great time to take important actions, especially ones aligned with the areas of life ruled by the sign that the Full Moon is in. 

During a Aquarius Full Moon, it can be a great time to:

Participate in a group brainstorming session

Work on something tech

Write down your BIGGEST DREAM VISIONS. Aquarius rules your greatest dreams in life and at the Blue Moon time which is also a more intensified Supermoon, any energies put out can be expanded! Take advantage of this momentous time by going BIG.

ASPECTS TO BE EXTRA CAREFUL & AWAREFUL AROUND:

As you can see from my ‘salty’ aspect list, there is quite a bit of mischief this month! All month be on extra guard! Here are a few challenging ones I am highlighted. The last one carries the most gravity because it is between two outer planets.

August 2 ~ Venus in Leo Square Uranus in Taurus 

Look out for bumps in money and love, or your confidence could get rocked in some way. Discomfort and surprises in these areas of life are more likely in the days around this aspect. Best news about this one is that the drama tends to settle quickly.

August 15-16 ~ Mars in Gemini Square Saturn in Pisces 

Your flow is likely to become greatly impeded with this one. The free movement and thought of Mars in Gemini can get blocked or awkward very quickly in the presence of a tough angle with the stern taskmaster, Saturn. In emotional Pisces, Saturn is especially confused, adding to the challenge. One important thing to know about this one is that there may be a REASON that winds up SERVING you that your flow has to be impeded right now. Look for that reason, expect it, have faith that it is there, and that anticipation could help it to appear. This transit lasts a bit longer the first mentioned Venus/Uranus one. Be on alert to expect manifestations from this Mars/Saturn conflict for 5-7 days BEFORE and AFTER the days around the 15-16.

August 19 ~ The Mega conflict this month in the stars also happens to coincide with the very intense SUPER FULL BLUE MOON in the days around August 19! It is between Jupiter in Gemini and Saturn in Pisces, a rough square.

This aspect can bring in the challenge of wanting to explore new ideas, places, etc. but a corresponding need for caution or extra care, or some kind of external block stopping what seems like the natural flow. This aspect has some of the energy of the Mars aspect with Saturn with the likeness of some natural flow being impeded in some way but this Jupiter aspect takes on a broader meaning and can be more all-encompassing.

Maybe you want to travel but you can’t get your passport in time, or you want to start a school program but can’t afford it or for some other reason it isn’t accessible, there could be social aspirations that are blocked by a gatekeeper that is demanding too much. These are just a few ways the energies can manifest.

Communication within yourself, out onto to the paper (like a writing project), or conversing with others, could be labored or fruitless. Delays and frustrations of various types can also manifest in any area of life.

Some positive potentials of this mega transit are:

Balanced growth (as opposed to unchecked and overwhelming growth), which can be better for the long term.

Disciplined learning (like a situation where you are at first excited about learning something, then you get to the part where it is hard and you want to give up but you have to summon the strength to forge ahead in the absence of passion).

Strategic communication (where you work out your emotions BEFORE you attempt to convey your concerns to others so that the conversation is about the topic, not the charge you have to it).

The extent of the manifestation is wide, like all of August AND September but may be most noticeable in the times closer to August 19.

Remember that you can experience the good vibes BEFORE and AFTER the dates listed as the web of influence extends beyond the day of exact connection.

Nice aspects with Chiron like these can bring healing breakthroughs, radiant self-discovery, and radical self-empowerment.

August 15 ~ Sun in Leo Trine Chiron in Aries ~ Self-confidence and readiness to step past insecurities into a more true version of yourself.

August 23 ~ Mercury in Leo Trine Chiron in Aries ~ Self-expression and clarity about how to best communicate your needs and desires.

August 24 ~ Mars in Gemini Sextile Chiron in Aries ~ Motivation to actively overcome past issues and strengthen previous weak spots or reframe to see the strength in them.

TWO VENUS TRINES!

Venus trines can bring blessings in your personal relationship or financial sector, or in the arena of beauty and general aesthetics.

August 27 ~ Venus in Virgo Trine Uranus in Taurus ~ Unexpected opportunities can come out of the blue. Innovative solutions to romantic or financial quandaries can also roll in. A break from the norm, some much need excitement.

August 29 ~ Venus in Libra Trine Pluto in Aquarius ~ Positive intensity, ingenius money-making ideas, transformation in love, a radical new look, all of these are more possible with this aspect!

ONE NOTABLE TRANSIT THAT IS STRONG AND CAN GO EITHER WAY (SWEET or SALTY):

August 14 ~ Mars and Jupiter in Gemini Conjunct 

Some challenges that can come from this one are overextension of energy leading to burn out, overpromising of outcomes that become tough or impossible to deliver, impulsiveness in decision-making with challenged outcomes, aggression and overreaction, general conflict (amplified), and scattered focus.

Some great potentials are expanded energy, physical strength, enthusiasm, and motivation, profoundly positive social interactions or experiences, fulfilling adventure and exploration, titanic vision that stretches goals beyond what you dreamed you could do before, and enhanced learning capability.

This aspect is likely to be strong up to a week BEFORE and AFTER August 14.
