December 2023 Astrology ~ VERY MERRY SEASON of SWEET ASPECTS! + more

Here are some top points to know about the December 2023 Astrology. See my December 2023 Horoscope Videos/Podcasts  for more details and also in the date specific notes towards the end of this written report:

1. Finally a positive shift in the sweet to salty aspect ratio with SWEET aspects being back on top! Of course there are always nuisance aspects bringing small road bumps along the path but this month SHINES with extra chances for positive manifestations.

2. We are exiting eclipse season. There are two powerful eclipses in October 2023 and both of them will become super active with potential for news related to these eclipses coming in August or September. Eclipse season begins around 4-6 weeks (or more) BEFORE the actual eclipses and the ‘season’ stretches AFTER the eclipses, too. So that puts all of November and into December as fair game for more eclipse news and events (although the bulk of the big news does tend to come before and in the eclipse weeks.) You will see continued integration of the information and events related to the eclipse polarities for the signs the eclipses are in and the houses they accentuate in your charts.

Changes to the Me/We sectors and My stuff/Our stuff arenas are major themes from these two eclipse cycles.

We have the second of the Aries/Libra eclipse cycle which began earlier in 2023 with the Black Moon Eclipse in Aries on April 20. For this cycle, we have a Solar eclipse at 21° of Libra on October 14.

This is a powerful time of closing out of themes and storylines that began in towards the end of 2021, when the Taurus/Scorpio Eclipse cycle began. The last of this cycle occurs October 28, 2023 with a lunar eclipse at 5• of Taurus. Major endings and new beginnings are very likely now!

3. December delivers us back into Mercury retrograde season. The pre-transit shadow period begins around November 26, Mercury goes officially retrograde December 12 and it retrograde until January 1, 2024 (with the post transit shadow period stretching until January 21st).

If you are reading this early, the early bird shopper can avoid the Mercury retro madness (sometimes a bit difficult to shop, receive, find, and deliver the right thing) by letting Black Friday (November 24th weekend) be goal to finish your holiday shopping by.

4. Scorpio energies linger a bit longer this year with Venus running through the whole sign in December. Chances to unite with others in meaningful ways, make psychological or spiritual breakthroughes, find the perfect mystery series to read, watch, or write, opportunities to receive and give emotional or financial support to others in fulfilling ways, all have extra potential for manifestation at this time.

5. Sagittarius energies take center stage (Sun, Mercury, and Mars), bringing adventure, social and other fun opportunities, and a zest for learning and teaching, plus increasing the chance for exciting travel. Sagittarius brings a MUCH NEEDED lightening of the heaviness of prolonged Scorpio transits (including the ending of the Taurus/Scorpio eclipse cycle (whose faint echoes may still be heard this month). Play, optimism, and expansion are all wonderful tag lines that accompany Sagittarius. The tendency to over-do is significantly increased at this time (as the Sagittarius ruler, Jupiter, is known for this) so watch out for this with spending, eating, drinking, and any other situation where overdoing can take the fun out of the situation.

6. Capricorn energies enter the scene bringing helpful realism to the excessive Sagittarius party. You may find you are drawn to retreat out of party mode for a bit here and there to accomplish important and tedious tasks involving wrapping up 2023 and preparing for 2024. Getting a leg up on taxes and other business or money planning or strategizing may be easier with the Earthy support of Capricorn.

7. Jupiter goes direct December 31! While we always experience effects from every planet going retrograde or direct, I am especially pointing this shift out because many things that slowed down or went dormant in September may be noticeably awakening this month as Jupiter shifts direction. Expansion, luck, ease, and growth (plus enthusiasm) could have some great support now and moving forward.

Sweet boosts are more likely on or around these days: 2, 5, 7, 9, 15, 18, 24, 25, 27, 28, 29, and 30.

Drama or stress are more likely in the days around: 3, 9, 16, 17, 20, 21, 27, and 28.

Notable Moon Dates:

December 12  — New Moon at 20° of Sagittarius 

December 26 — Full Moon at almost 5° of Cancer

ASPECTS TO BE EXTRA CAREFUL & AWAREFUL:

First on my list to bring extra awareness to is that Mercury retro dominates this month. Many a wonderful thing can work out wonderfully at this time but it is also a time where scheduling and planning can be more difficult (which does NOT flow well with holiday plans!). The more flexible you can be at this time (with what you personally plan, promise to others, or commit to) will help the season to be more merry.

There are also some specific days/aspects that I want to draw your attention to:

December 3 ~ Venus in Libra Square Pluto in Capricorn (plus an inconjunct transit) ~

This combo can bring clashes in love or money, or jostles to your self view. Someone may not follow through with something promised leaving you high and dry. If this happens, try using one of my favorite affirmations by Florence Scovel Shine, “When I am unmoved by appearances, appearances move”. Maybe this won’t mop it up, but in situations that aren’t as bad as they seem at first, or if there is some Mercury retro communication mischief, it could help you to keep calm as the picture becomes more clear.

There is also an “inconjunct” aspects this same day, making the chance for awkward or nuisance manifestations to increase.

December 21 ~ Venus in Scorpio Opposing Uranus in Taurus (plus another inconjunct aspect) ~

The energy of this combination is similar to the one I mentioned for December 3rd in the way that it can affect love, money, and self-esteem. What is different here is the aspect is with Uranus, the bringer of surprises, jolts, and shocks. Very occasionally this aspect can result in a positive exhilarating romantic or financial surprise. Expect the unexpected. Try to get centered before making an final decisions on what you think is happening. It may take a bit for clarity around what is occurring.

MY TOP FAVE ASPECTS OF DECEMBER 2023:

We have so many sweet aspects this month and some of them shine as my favorites of the bunch. Remember that you can experience the good vibes BEFORE and AFTER the dates listed as the web of influence extends beyond the day of exact connection.

December 5 ~ Venus in Scorpio Trine Saturn in Pisces ~ Steamy romance, financial gifts, long-time dreams coming true - what’s not to love about this connection?! This is a great time to schedule time with your beloved or if you are single and looking, to get back in touch with a love interest from the past.

December 7 ~ Sun in Sagittarius Trine Chiron in Aries AND Mercury in Capricorn Trine Jupiter in Taurus ~ Vibrant healing and inspiration can come from the fire trine and practical accomplishment and awesome news can flow from the earth trine. This is a time packed with potential, especially from past efforts or contacts.

December 9 ~ Venus in Scorpio Opposing Jupiter in Taurus ~ Usually I put oppositions in the “Be Careful and Awareful of” list, and it is good to understand its place there, too, but there are some really great potentials from this specific opposition. Venus and Jupiter are the two “benefics” of the Zodiac, meaning they tend to bring with them more ease and grace compared to the other planetary positions. When they get together, even in what is usually considered a tough angle, they can bring a MASSIVE AMOUNT OF FUN, sometimes TOO much fun, like excessive to a bad outcome, which is something to be on high alert for in the days around this time. But if you can know when to say when, this aspect can bring excess indulgence that delights and brings smiles for a long time to come.

December 18 ~ Mercury in Capricorn Trine Jupiter in Taurus ~

No, it is not a type that you saw me list this aspect also on December 7 (and it will happen a third time on January 20, 2024! Since Mercury is in retrograde through the degrees where it matches up with Jupiter, we get a TRIPLE blessing from this combo. Anything from gardening/earth stewardship, to finances, to physical building, can all bring in extra goodies now. Think anything involving EARTH energy and the MATERIAL plane added to the energy of luck and expansion.

December 25 ~ Venus in Scorpio Trine Neptune in Pisces ~

This energy is perfect for cozy conversations in comfortable surroundings. If you celebrate holidays around this time, it can boost your social and family gatherings tremendously.

December 30 ~ Jupiter goes direct at 5° Taurus ~

Ok, so this isn’t actually an “aspect” but I am personally excited about it (being a Sagittarius and Jupiter being my ruler :) ) and it has positive potential implications for all signs for life breathed back into ventures that lost steam over the last several months or more. Work that was done behind the scenes could also start showing tangible advancement now.
